Its Whereabouts
East Bergholt lies in rural Suffolk, England, just North of the Essex/Suffolk border (commonly considered to be the River Stour), and deep in the heart of ‘Constable Country’. The village is an almost equal distance between towns Colchester (in Essex — curiously our postal town), and Ipswich (in Suffolk).
Travelling by Bicycle
On Route 1 of the National Cycle Network
Join the B1070 in Holton (signed Ipswich, Colchester, Manningtree). Stay on the B1070 under the A12 and in a mile or two you’ll be entering the village.
Travelling by Bus
East Bergholt is well serviced, being in between Hadleigh, Manningtree, Ipswich, and Colchester. Consult the latest timetables and route maps.
Travelling by Car
On A12
Take exit 31, sign posted East Bergholt and B1070. From the slip road turn left onto the B1070, and you’ll soon enter the village.
Travelling by Rail
The nearest train station is only four miles away in Manningtree. Alternatively, there are major stations at Ipswich and Colchester, both ten miles away.
All three stations are on the Norwich to London line; Manningtree and Ipswich also link directly with Harwich International.
