A baffling sight yesterday in Castle Park, Colchester:

Car driven into Castle Park

If you were to cycle through either Upper or Lower Castle Park you would be asked to dismount and push your bike. Drive into it however, and you would be told not to worry, “it wasn’t your fault”! How exactly the park warden came to that conclusion, I do not know… I suppose it was wishful thinking that he would ask the driver to get out and push the car out of the grounds.

I must have walked past this old poster (probably from 1954) in The Playhouse, Colchester dozens of times before without noticing the name!

One of the headliners is the Malcolm Mitchell Trio, ‘Britain’s Premier Rhythm Group’, fronted by a certain Malcolm Mitchell on guitar. Needless to say I hadn’t heard of him (or the group) before.
