After waiting since April, Carlos Ghys can finally witness some of his contributions on the site! Both Carlos and his brother sent many covers, none of which have been added until today. I aim to add the rest over the next few updates. Ten Essen Motor Show covers (formally known as The Jochen Rindt Show) have been added this update, and in the same batch was a cover from the Long Beach Champcar race in 2002, but it was already online.
The four Hungarian rally covers are courtesy of Levente Szalay, who has been searching hard for the French F1 GP cover to no avail. This is the only cover needed to complete the F1 2003 collection (although most are still not online). Some months ago, Joakim Knutsson sent the Anderstorp BPR race cover from 1996.
Doug Stokes of Irwindale Speedway sent many of their 2003 event covers back in June. Now, four months on, I've downloaded the rest from Harold Osmer Publishing, who create all the wonderful double-spread covers. You can actually buy the programmes direct from Harold's website, as he holds a few copies from each event. The twenty seven covers added today mean the page has covers from every racing event this year, up to and including last weekend!
Martin Spetz, newly associated with RacingFanatics.com, sent covers from Brainerd, Bay Meadows, Fernandina Beach, MacDill and Boca Raton, which were all previously unrepresented tracks; Lime Rock Park, Trenton and Sears Point — the only motorbike cover on that page. A few more covers from Martin will be added in future updates.
After catching up with the Racing Sports Cars updates made over the last few months, I came across quite a few covers not listed here. Most will be added over the next couple of updates, but covers added today from Lime Rock (except the 1984 one) and Spa, all come from the RSC site and include weblinks back to the relevant photo pages.
Here's four more 2003 covers from Terry Buschmann, all from Gateway, as well as two Portland covers from 1999 and 2000 and an older double-spread cover from Cleveland, 1982. Petr Gabriel also sent four 2003 covers (sometime ago now), all from Brno. Petr also filled in two missing dates from the Brno track page.
From the second of two batches that Andrew Horrox has sent recently comes seven new covers from the 1970s and '80s. The Manfeild page gets six new covers, while the Thruxton page gets one. New contributor Derek Mountey sent one new cover from Surfers Paradise and seven from Lakeside, five in succession.
This is also Colin King's first contribution, but not his last. Colin, who makes highly detailed custom 1:18 diecast models, sent four new Harewood Acres covers, including the latest covers listed, and another five from Mosport.
Months ago now, James Pernikoff sent an Atlanta Dragway cover from May and the NHRA and CART pre-season fan guides; just a few of the many covers still waiting to be added since May. I've also added more from Martin Spetz, this time just a sole Mid Ohio cover from 1971.
Levente Szalay has sent the cover from the F1 race at Barcelona at the beginning of May. You may remember me adding it last update, but it was infact the poster.
Terry Buschmann sent the Chicago cover, which completes a four season series of ChampCar races there. Also sent were two fairground covers from DuQuoin, creating a new track page. Three Homestead Miami covers from the Millenium and two from Houston also warrent a new track page. Terry also sent four new IRP covers, more than double the tracks representation and a new Las vegas cover.
Mark Staunton is to thank for the two earliest Nazareth covers in the collection, and another seven nice covers for the Lime Rock page on top of what he has previously sent.
And last but not least, debut contributor Pete Sigwardt has sent six new Riverside 500 covers adding to the fairly large Riverside page. While checking out the latest covers, why not visit Frank Sheffield's Riverside International Raceway Monument website, supplying information, and artists impressions.
Thanks to Gil Bouffard for sending four new Laguna Seca covers, as well as four more for the Sears Point page and new Portland and Willow Springs covers too, mostly from the 1980s.
Christian Schmidt has continued with his weekly contribution, this time the latest cover on the site, the superbike event from Phillip Island in Australia.
Wolfgang Neumayer has sent another four covers for the Nurburgring, Hockenheim and Sachsenring pages, including a 2003 cover from Nurburgring, last weekend.
Jacques Mertens has been busy finding programmes again from the eBay auction site. The two Montlhery covers have been bought by Jacques, while the auction for the 1950 Pedralbes and 1927 Targa Florio covers have now ended.
Aldo Favini is back contributing, with another bunch of covers from around the world. Most were duplicates, but I found some better scans amongst the ones he sent and also one new one, which can all be found at the Suzuka page.
I'm still trying to catch up with all the contributions I've had while there's been no updates. Probably about half are uploaded now, the other half will get added eventually… the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen have been in touch again after a year or twos absense from updates, and should be sending some more covers along soon, so there's also that boost to look forward to.
Mike Gee used to race around the historic Westwood circuit in Canada in the 60s, and over the past few years has been collecting Westwood memorabilia, trying to produce a clearer picture of the post-war period in Motor sport. Mike has so far made five videos from his research, documenting racing in the 60s to 80s which you can read about and purchase through his website (for scans, click here). Over the years Mike has kindly taken the time to scan the programmes he comes across, and has built the Westwood page up by himself. If you can help Mike, mail him via this link.
Believe it or not there are still many covers yet to be added from Andrew Horrox in New Zealand, after a month of solid contributing. This update I've added a lot of British race programmes and some remaining New Zealand covers from Andrew's fine collection. Brett Jurmann has sent some nice Australian covers from Sandown and Oran Park, as well as some gap-fillers for the Bathurst page. Thanks also to Chris Meaden for recommending the site to Brett.
Olivier Beroud is a new contributor, and has started off with some signed covers from Le Mans and Magny Cours, while Terry Buschmann has completed the coverage of Gateway to present:
